| Ministry - A Note From Michael Sewell Hi I'm Micheal Sewell, I wrote, co-produced and acted in" Wheel of Knowing." This film is born out of life spent ministering to the Church and to seekers through the medium of drama. I'd like to introduce myself, my ministry, and the story behind "Wheel of Knowing." The public face of any ministry can make it seem like some corporate machine that is far removed from day to day life, but I want you to know that this ministry is from the heart, and we depend on our personal walk with Jesus Christ. My ministry has been in effect for about twenty years. I came to the Lord as an actor in NYC, and immediately left the industry for a new calling in the ministry. My first ministry assignment was as a janitor, learning to be a servant, (one of the most important lessons any minister can learn). I studied to be a Bible teacher but soon my art roots melded with the Bible study, and I felt led to start writing a play based on my testimony. The writing process was a battle as I struggled with feelings that I couldn't do it, and even if I did it would be a tremendous failure. God strengthened me to persevere and I performed " Heart in a Box" at a little church in Orange, CA. to an audience of about 20 people, including the staff. I was astounded as I continued to perform the play that the audiences kept growing and the commitments to Christ kept increasing. Within three months, the play was drawing crowds of thousands. That started a ministry that has continued to produce plays, music, and films, and has taken my family around the globe seeing tens of thousands come to the Lord! But even though the ministry thrives, it remains a humble operation that depends on God's grace moment by moment. "Wheel of Knowing-A Story of Hope," is the latest project requiring a step of faith. It was put together with a shoestring budget and the help of several small churches. Calvary Chapel Laguna Creek, Calvary Chapel Natomas, and Metro Calvary Roseville all came together with some great people from the Sacramento film community to make this project a reality. The story was inspired by my wife Jodi's personal experience. In caring for an Alzheimer's patient, she saw God miraculously reach him despite his dementia. The production needs were met through the labor of the sweet people of the church, and God's supernatural provision. For example we needed a phone booth, but there were none in the city where we were filming, so we prayed. Moments after the prayer ended, Ben (co-director) went out side and a saw free- standing phone booth in the dumpster outside of his building! It is our prayer that this film will give hope and a voice to people who understand that the world is very complex, full of suffering and confusion, but that God's love shines above it all in the salvation He brings through His Son, Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus when He said that "the truth will set you free", and so I strive to be honest in my writing avoiding a contrived message or propaganda. "Wheel of Knowing- A Story of Hope," is about perception, suffering, forgiveness, and God's love. I pray it will be a blessing to the viewer and a message that will draw people to Jesus.
